Has anyone had experience with the Cambridge online high school program? My son, who is finishing his sophomore year at a highly ranked high school in the Midwest, is being offered a yearlong soccer training opportunity in Europe to prepare him for signing professionally when he turns 18 in August 2018. He has had a rigorous curriculum thus far and carries a 4.281 GPA and so far a 33 on ACT. The online program in our district is poor and not challenging at all. I would hate for him to dumb down his credentials by dropping into it when he leaves for Europe as he does someday want to continue with college/med school once his impending soccer career is over. It has been suggested to me that the Cambridge program is widely accepted around the world as a respected program. I would like any advice anyone could give me----how to get registered, what your experience has been, how colleges have reacted to those classes on the transcript, etc. Anything you can tell me. Thanks so much in advance!
We’ve had a good experience with Dwight Global Online School. It’s the online program offered by Dwight School, a private school based in New York City and with campuses in London and Shanghai. It is a very respected program and college admissions are great. My daughter’s classmates include many elite athletes and performers.
Laurel Springs Schools in California. Some friends involved in tennis are enrolled there. My kid took several online classes with The Keystone School in Pennsylvania. They offer most of the regular AP classes and there are no artificial timelines to complete the courses. If my kid were homeschooled due to their sport, we would enroll in Keystone full-time.
A few of my friends go to Stanford Online High School and they are really loving their experience there. They tell me that the academics are advanced and the teacher support is really good.
