Cambridge (UK) engineers in the US

I was just wondering...

what do people in the US think about Cambridge graduates? It's a great uni, especially if you are in one of the top colleges(college as in Cambridge) , but is it regarded as highly as eg MIT, Harvard, Princeton?

I got a place to do engineering in Cambridge, but would quite like to come to US in the future...

Are you kidding me?

In some circles it's regarded even more highly than any school in the US (including HYPS.) However, MIT may still have the lead for engineering, as that just happens to be "their thing".

Great to know that!
I just heard someone say that on mentioning Cambridge most people would just mutter something like ' oh yes, Cambridge...is it supposed to be any good?'

Which college were you admitted to?

Trinity...it's sooo pretty:)

congratulations goshjosh - whats your offer? are you yini'ing?

AAA in Physics , Maths&Futher Maths... pretty standard.

No, I'm not deferring entry... I somehow really don't think it's very beneficial to work in industry BEFORE the start of the course. (Year in industry, is it what you mean?)

yeah, i meant year in industry - but why don't you think its beneficial to get experience before the start of the course? I also thought trinity was one of the colleges that preferred deferred entry... (i'll be applying this year, im in lower 6th now)

I think that I would be lacking sufficient knowledge to REALLY benefit from being in an engineering company...

Apparently they do prefer deferred entry, but they accepted me anyway. I don't think it matters very much whether you do it or not. Most people I know who got in didn't take a year out.

We have a friend who graduated from Gonville/Caius last year in CS. . . he didn't do the gap year either.

It cracks me up about how they DO NOT let people walk on the grass there!
