Camp Counseling in College Admissions?

Well, so being an avid scouter, I'm currently hired by BSA (Boy Scouts of America) as a camp staffer. I enjoy it thoroughly, and was wondering, in addition, do you think being a camp Counselor of staffer has any impact, even if you were paid? Its practically volunteering, you don't get paid much.

Much less BSA, being a counselor anywhere, how much would it help you, if any? I bet it is pretty small, just showing a dedication to EC's

If you get paid anything, it is NOT volunteering. You should not say so on any application. It will look the same as any after-school job in my opinion.

My D used her counseling experience at a residential GS camp as a job. those are good too!

I was a camp counselor (paid 12 cents/hour if you calculate it!) but it was job experience nonetheless. I think it can only help on an application. I worked it into a short essay of mine, so the experience was useful there too.

It helps anytime you have held a job or volunteered in a position where you have responsibility for the care of others. It can be camp counselor, lifeguard, coach, etc. Responsibility, maturity, and commitment are always welcomed by college admissions.

I actually was told not to put it on my application because it seems like "cushy" job for "well-off" high schoolers. Untrue, I know.

I put it on anyways.
