Is being a camp counselor not good enough for colleges? I've been going to this camp for 10 years and this year I will be a counselor. I could literally write my college essays about my experiences at camp (I actually did write one for English once). Anyway, I would love to do some prestigious and competitive summer program, but I love camp and I love being a counselor. Do you think picking camp over a summer program is a bad decision? Do you think colleges would like that I'm sticking with something I'm passionate about?

…

YES! I think you will be totally fine - I have worked at a summer camp since I was 16 and I go to a pretty good college, many of my coworkers at camp also attend good colleges, even Ivy League etc. Many of us also wrote our college essays at camp! A summer camp job shows a great amount of responsibility. Enjoy your summer at camp!

Thanks for your response! Makes me feel a lot better about working at camp and not doing some summer program!
