Anyone here go to Camp Crimson? Was it worthwhile?

I know a few people who attend OU. They also went to Camp Crimson & from what I hear it is a really good time.

Thanks @Aishakale I’m trying to get a handle on the pre-college costs, both time and money.

D (an OU freshman) says that it was helpful but that it wouldn’t be a big deal not to go.

Camp Crimson was money well spent for my D who is out of state and didn’t know a Boomer from a Sooner! She had fun, met a lot of people, learned a lot about the school, and felt much more comfortable and confident by the end of it. Good program; glad it was an available option for her.

Camp Crimson is a decent program. I know people that liked it and still meet up with their groups even during their sophomore year. That said, it’s definitely not necessary. I didn’t go and don’t regret it. If you’re stressed for money and time, I wouldn’t sweat missing it. If your S/D really wants to get a better feel for OU though, it isn’t a bad idea.

My son skipped it and didn’t feel like he’d missed anything. He had a smooth transition.

How much does it cost?

$250 and there’s need based aid available. My D hopes to be working at as camp councilor the summer before she starts college so she’d need to take the weekend off and airfare.

Camp Crimson is money well-spent! It was the best 3 days for my son and he was so ready to start in Fall 13. He has since served as an SGL for the camp last summer and been involved in many other ways on campus. My middle son is signed up to go in June! During Camp Crimson they learn all the OU traditions, songs; meet friends; get a taste of dorm life and lots of other fun things! I would not miss an opportunity to send my child to Camp Crimson!
