Campus Crossing at Alayfaya

Wanted to make a thread for it, so here goes.

I took a tour at several places and my fav. place was Campus Crossing at College Station. However, I signed a lease with Campus Crossing at Alafaya because it's like a town home and it's cheaper.

My friends and I read the ratings for this place weeks after and lord and behold, we are terrified for our lives. We didn't think to read the ratings before signing because we were sold, after going through the tour and seeing the price (cheapest price yet.) But I'm scared and terrified and don't know what to make of this situation. I hear there are cockroaches and mold!!! COCKROACHES AND MOLD!! Not to mention the crappy maintenance and security issues. (i.e. robberies, break-ins)

Anyway just wondering, but does anyone on CC live there or is moving in this weekend? I'm so scared!

One last question... should I get a parking permit and park my car in the parking Garage at UCF instead of parking in this apartment complex? I don't want anyone breaking into my car even though there's nothing valuable but a GPS, which I hide when I'm not driving. But still, I have a pretty decent car and don't want anyone messing with it D:

HELP.

P.S. This place is honestly too good to be true! No wonder it's so cheap! And I'm dumb for not figuring that out soon enough D:

Did you ever find out if its really that bad? I’ve been looking into that place and I loved the price and considered living there when I start in spring.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using CC App

Ok, it’s not as bad as the reviews said it was. I signed a lease for 485 and they made me pay 499, so I’m gonna go inquire about that. Money is money, and every cent adds up.

As far as the apartment goes, my two friends and I were suppose to live upstairs together but they placed me downstairs and another random person upstairs that has been living there for a while now. I came to accept it because honestly, I’m pretty independent and don’t really care regardless- it just bugged me because of how unprofessional they are.

So upon entering the apartment, we saw maintenance things that were shoved into a corner. Like a fogging machine, paint, paint brushes, etc… I still don’t understand why they didn’t take it away when they were done. Under the sink, there’s also this container of paint and a roller in it. It wasn’t thrown away or anything. Let’s just say, they didn’t clean this place very well for the new residents. There was mold in the bathtub, which I had to scrub down with some Clorox, and to be honest, it’s still quite disturbing to look at because of the rust. The rooms are pretty clean and nice, so I have no complaints about that.

And the older residents that lived there left all their crap around the house and in the cabinets… one of the bathrooms upstairs had a wad of hair under the freaking sink!! It’s so gross! Then downstairs in one of the kitchen cabinets, there were like cigarette butts, a nasty ass mitten/glove thing, HAIR, ketchup packs, and just all sorts of nasty stuff that should have been cleaned out. In the oven, I saw some hair also and I have no clue how they got there, and to be quite honest, don’t really want to know.

All in all, this place is worth it’s price. I recommend buying a lot of cleaning supplies to clean the place really good… Clorox, a swiffer, and some wipes should do the job. Clean every corner. E.V.E.R.Y corner. I hear that roaches do appear in these apartments, so be as clean as you can. It would suck to have nasty roommates though, so try to find friends that you can rely on to room with.

Good luck!

Scratch all that. Don’t rent at this place. I woke up this morning with a huge leak in my living room/kitchen area from the bathroom upstairs. There were nasty ass yellow water ALL over the place. The only good thing that came out of this was that they finally looked at the work orders and fixed everything. (Broken toilet seat, moldy drain in one of the bath tubs, and installed some rods in another bathroom.) I missed class today because I had to stay around and wait for the maintenance people. Honestly, the trouble isn’t even worth it anymore. I wonder if this incident didn’t happen, if they would look at the work orders at all and come fix things.

I’m trying to get out of 12-month lease and only stay for fall and spring term.

Yeesh, making me glad I picked Sterling instead!

:( Arifriekinel, how much is Sterling?

Mizzxvii, here’s the rates for Sterling. Phase II apartments are more expensive than Phase I, and if you have a car a decal it’s an extra $10 ($25 for reserved) added onto your rent.

It’s funny, I thought about choosing those townhomes. I’m sorry to hear about all those problems in your unit (especially the hair…in the oven?! eww…). Sounds like hell. If you’re not into a lot of noise 24/7, I personally wouldn’t recommend Sterling. The apartments are very nice though.

I was looking at sterling and it’s so nice! I figured if I don’t get accepted to UCF as a freshman ill transfer from another school after 2 years and probably live in sterling. Are those the rates for each person or the total rent?

Those rates are for each person. Also they don’t take financial aid or wait for disbursement to get their rent. If you waited 2 years, by the time you transferred there will be more new places in the area for students to live (there’s one being built now, another “luxury” place I think).

Thanks, purplestuff! Haha you really get what you pay for! I think I’ll sign at Campus Crossing at College Station next year. My friend lives there now and she pays like 525 a month. I can’t afford the rates that Sterling has to offer, and really, I think anything is better than living in the dorms and sharing a bathroom with three other girls, lol.

I think Campus Crossing at Alayfaya could do much better if maintenance here isn’t crap. They really need to know how to clean the place before letting new residents move in. I’m tired of cleaning other people’s mess.

Btw, who the heck pays 900 bucks for a one bedroom/bathroom apartment for college! Seriously!

Welcome:) I don’t know what kind of student pays that much for a 1/1 unless they’re into throwing money away or a serial killer who needs “privacy”.

I can’t even afford the rates Sterling offers lol (change in finances), looked into Peg Pointe & Landing yesterday but they’re both full to capacity so I’m stuck. I was thinking about College Station too. Campus Crossing looks cute from the outside to me. I love brick. How big are the rooms?

I’ll take your word for it about the maintenance. It shouldn’t be your responsibility to clean up after people who lived there before you. I actually didn’t mind the dorms, particularly Rosen’s…aside from the twin xl-bed it’s a lot nicer than towers imo.

Campus Crossing at College Station seems really nice. I’m not sure about the exact size of the room, but I’d say it’s pretty spacious… Each room has their own bathroom as well, which is pretty cool. I remember visiting ‘The Edge’ after College Station, and even though The Edge was more expensive, I thought College Station was nicer.

Are you trying to get out of your lease with Sterling at the moment or something? I think Alafaya still have some space, LOL. Not completely sure though. But anyway, the rent is 485, so what more can you ask for? Don’t say I didn’t warn you about this place though!

I looked at The Edge too (online), and it’s almost the same as Sterling in price. Isn’t it great having your own bathroom? This year is my first time EVER having my own and I love it.

I was trying to get out of it. It’s a great apartment but the rent is too high, there’s some security/resident behavior “issues”, and it’s just all around noisy. I don’t have the money to cancel or sublet so I’ll just endure it for now…

$485/mo. sounds so perfect and your warning is duly noted! It would be nice if all these places charged close to that in rent.

I don’t have my own bathroom, I’m sharing 2 1/2 bathrooms with three other girls, but one girl is never there so it’s like having my own bathroom, haha.

And I’m kind of surprised to hear that Sterling has security issues! As bad as it sounds, I actually expected Campus Crossing to have security issues, lmao. The horrible reviews really scared me. I think I was more afraid of the cockroach issues than the security issues, which is ridiculous.

Well that’s not bad! Works out great that she’s never there lol.

So am I. When I signed the lease the girl was talking about how they have one police officer living here and he handles the problems but overall we’re all responsible for our own safety. Like okayyy…I can do that…for $635/morolls eyes…but it doesn’t seem to be a group effort. Someone got their front door kicked down by [as I recall] drunk people during the weekend. Most of the problems stem from kids (usually underage) who can’t hold their liquor. Quite a bit of vandalism.

Oh no it’s perfectly logical to fear the cockroaches! Those things will come after you…one flew straight at me once lol. The reviews for all these places seems pretty terrible but you have to take them with a grain of salt. Everyone’s different and has differing expectations of what’s acceptable.

Goodness if I payed $635 a month, I’d expect better security than that!

And I’m terrified of bugs/animals… I don’t know why I am, but I am. And you know what… To add more to the list of complaints… Our fridge stopped working for several days now! Some of our stuff are melting… My water isn’t cold (I hate drinking warm water) and it’s just ridiculous. We put in a work order but I don’t think they even look at that, so we just have to call them tomorrow :frowning: thank god my roommate brought her mini fridge!

Exactly. It’s ridiculous.

lol I’m like that too, especially with lizards and rodents. I’m not afraid of bugs; the nerd in me kind of likes them lol.

That’s awful, they really should fix your fridge asap. It’s a good thing for the mini fridge! If no one fixes it in a reasonable amount of time, can you request compensation for the food that went bad because of their broken fridge?

Called them and they finally fixed it!! My phobia for bugs/animals doesn’t even make sense at all, lol. Like if a cat or dog tries to get near me, I would freak out. I found a dead roach on the bathroom floor yesterday and I was hoping someone would get it but no one did since I’m the only one that really uses that bathroom. I finally gathered up enough courage to scoop it up with a piece of paper and put it in the trashcan, lol. It’s seriously ridiculous. Thank god it was dead, or else I would’ve freaked out. I think the bugs are starting to come out. I feel like crying. :frowning: And btw… we keep this place pretty clean too… We take the trash out every few days and we wash our dirty dishes at least once every two days, so I don’t understand what the problem is…

But yeah, one of my roommates is trying to find someone to take over her lease, lol. She’s always with her bf so there’s no reason for her to pay like 500 bucks a month. I don’t think she’ll find any luck when we’re already a month into the semester though, lol.
