How hard is it to get an on-campus job? I really want one but I'm sure it is hard. And what kind of jobs are there?

Also, is UCI good at arranging internships for their students? I am a business Econ major if it helps..thanks

when I went on a campus tour there, the tour guide mentioned a note-taking job.

There’s different jobs for different things, but if you don’t have work-study in your financial aid, then it is going to be very difficult to find a job. Those granted with work-study have priority to get their jobs before any other applicant.

I have work study, can I use it at any on campus job?

Yeah, that’s what it pretty much grants to you…

You can either clean up after kitchens and other places, drive around the campus with shuttles as a bus driver, etc. etc. Jobs vary depending on your skills and such.

Yeah, it is annoying to get a job without work–study. The notetaker job is good, but it’s only if there’s demand, Basically, it’s like disabled people who can’t take notes looking for people to take notes, and it pays really well too (25 bucks per unit, which puts it at about 100 dollars average per class as each class is 4 units). The problem is, there’s not always someone disabled in your class who needs someone to take notes for them and you’re not the only person looking for a job.

I’m low income but there was not any indication of work study in my fin aid uci report? Is there a way to change this. I’m sorry for hijacking.

Don’t think so, but yeah, I think direct aid>work study. I mean, yeah, it’s good to have a job and all that, but with workstudy, you’re just working to pay off some of the money that FAFSA offers you in which case you’d rather just get the direct aid.

Idk too much on the work study situation, but work study just pays off for your personal expenses. It mostly covers things you would need personally in college. But I was only told this, so like I said, I’m not sure if it’s entirely true.
