@TexasExMom My DD just decided last week to attend Texas A&M in College Station. It was a hard decision. She is an engineering/CS major and got into the honors engineering program at A&M. She really liked the idea of the LA education but in the end felt like A&M was the better choice for her. Good luck to your son at UT!!
@tammy7949 Best wishes to your daughter. You canāt go wrong at A&M! Even though we are a UT family, I have great respect for A&M. They do an excellent job making their large university seem personal.
My daughter is a sophomore at Trinity, and for those still deciding, thought Iād weigh in. She has a big āfriend groupā which includes kids from Texas as well as Colorado, Oregon and D.C. Definitely not a suitcase school.
As far as visiting on weekends, the campus is both upper (academic buildings/library) and lower (dorms, athletics, dining hall). If you are on the upper campus on Saturday, it will likely be pretty dead before noon. My D is not up before noon, unless she has something to do for school.
They stay in dorms for 3 years, but Trinity recently bought the apartment building across the street, and it is offered to Juniors. She will be there next year. It is a short walk to the upper campus (closer than her dorm is now).
I think there is a mix of conservative and liberal - not one-sided.
Also, there is a big emphasis on internships and career-readiness. And my D will graduate in 4 years no problem - with a double major. She did not place out of any classes either. The Pathways curriculum allowed her to take classes she was interested in and comply with the curriculum. It was beneficial.
Thumbs up!
