I have to admit, I'm still confused about the difference between I-BUCKS, Hoosier Bucks and CampusAccess funds. But I think I'm slowly catching on. Anyway, DD has been on campus for a week now for IFS, and did laundry today and had to use quarters because we hadn't put any money into her CampusAccess account. I guess you get a discount on laundry using your CampusAccess account vs. quarters.

So first, this post is a reminder to new students and their parents to put some money in the CampusAccess account (accessible from OneStart or CampusAccess).

And second, this post is a question to experienced students and questions - how much money should we plan to put into the CampusAccess fund for first semester? How much do students typically spend on laundry? For other things?

I tended to put like $50 on at a time and you can refill as needed. I don’t remember using it for much other than laundry, but you can use it to pay at some of the IMU restaurants, etc.

Stbemptynest: I didn5 remember to add this until the day we got home from IFS drop-off. The system is easy to make deposits from a Credit Card. I had planned to do $100, bit it only had $75 and $150 options. I figured the $150 would cover her for quite some time. She is loving IFS, having a great time!

I used campus access for laundry Freshman year and that’s it. I know you can put cash on it (without the fees) in the basement of the McNutt center building, and i’d assume you can in other residence halls as well.

Some people use it at the off campus restaurants that accept it. A lot of them accept it, but it’s a very slow transaction, and I just think it’s easier to use a debit card/cash.

Well now I’m confused again. I found the info below on the RPS website, so it sounds like students will get $50 in their CampusAccess accounts “at the beginning of the semester” but it doesn’t say the exact date. It wasn’t in the account on 8/10 when my daughter tried to do laundry. For now she told me to wait to put money in the account until she gets more information. She can add money herself, but I agreed to pay for her laundry and it will be easier to keep our expenses separate…

During the previous school year the Residence Halls Association (RHA) approved the creation of a $100 CampusAccess account for all first time students. The CampusAccess account is a convenient way to make purchases without the need to carry cash or a credit/debit card. This new program will start with the fall semester and help ensure that new students can easily complete some task on campus like operating laundry and vending machines or purchasing food in the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU).

One-half or $50 will be deposited into a new student’s account at the start of each semester. Parent or students may add to their personal account through Campus Card at any time. Money deposited onto a CampusAccess account may be refunded if a student withdraws or graduates from the university.
