Campuswide Honors HCC Sequence

For those who have taken the HCC (Humanities Core) sequence in CHP, how was it? Was it hard to get an A or B and how much reading did you actually have to do?

I'm definitely more of an engineering/math/science person. During high school I promised myself that I would not take a course in college that required reading Shakespeare/Plato/canonical texts, so this class would obviously break that :/.

I really want to be part of CHP if I go to Irvine, but this required sequence may be a deal breaker..

imo, the complaining is fairly unjustified. The vast majority of people in my writing sections ended up with a B+, A-, or A.

That’s not to say it’s easy, but if you put in a good amount of effort (like most chp students), then you should be fine.

What is your major? I believe engineering majors don’t have to take it.

To answer your other question: there can be a fair amount of reading, but a majority of the work involves writing papers.
