can a 4.0 freshman year of undergraduate make up for lackluster HS grades?

I think it is too late to pull my HS gpa up, as I am a second term senior.

I applied to very few colleges that I actually want to go to, but I doubt I will get into any of them.

That being said, I would like to transfer into one of my top choices for fall of sophomore year.

I know a 4.0 is easier said than done, but for our purposes, let's presume that I will definitely obtain a 4.0 at a respectable college (UWisconsin--not definitely going there; if it's not respectable in your view, then just substitute it with anything comparable.)

Can it compensate for lackluster HS grades? 4 years worth?

Everything else should be fine--recs, SATs, ECs.

I’m afraid I might have to try making up for my SAT over the Summer and retake in Fall before transferring out. : l

My friend transferred from Wisconsin with a 4.0 to Wharton.

she only had a 2030 on her SATs and an average transcript, so keep your hopes up and put your best application forward!

Bust you butt and thats all you can do now. I am a transfer and I actually think I made the best choice by not going to the commuter school by my house. (CSUF) I have now got into some schools my friends got denied from in HS with 3.7’s. I have a 3.3 in college.
