I know this sounds ridiculous, and I don't believe that it's correct, but one of my D's college bound friends is under the impression that some colleges grant credit for acceptable AP test scores on the condition that the student pays the college for the AP credits received at the going tuition rate per credit hour (e.g., student gets a 5 on the AP English Lit exam and college grants the student 6 credit hours, but student has to pay 6 x $500/hr. for the credit). I can't believe that this is the case. Anyone ever heard of this?

no i REALLY don't think thats true. never heard of it.

I've not heard of it either. The best advice I could give is to take a look at the colleges that you're considering and ask them what their policies are.
