Hi, I'm going to engineering school next year and I don't think I can leave macs for pcs. I know you need a PC for some programs that don't run on mac. Would it work if I installed Windows 7 on my Mac so I don't have to leave my beloved Mac? Please don't give me a speech why I shouldn't use macs. I just want to know if it would be a good idea to install windows 7 on my mac to run all the programs for engineers. Thanks!

If you use Bootcamp (included on the Mac), you will be running a computer that will perform exactly as any other Windows computer (Dell, Toshiba, HP, etc.) with the same specs. If you really like Macs, you should use the Mac. You will have to purchase a copy of Windows 7, however.

quick answer: yes

Yes you can.
I was worried about this to.
Then I walked into my engineering school and saw macs everywhere.

Yes loads of engineering students use macs.

Thank God! Do they all run windows 7 on it?

if you buy it and install ti using bootcamp then yes.

Most don’t, at least at my school. For the 1-2 programs we need that don’t run on macs, we just go to the labs.

Even if I had a pc, I still would go to the labs to run them. So 0 difference in my work.

Macs have become more popular with engineering students (primarily because they are also, often predominantly, used for entertainment purposes rather than work), but you will face some (conquerable) challenges in doing so. Plus, they are still unpopular with engineering firms. One way or the other, you can make either a PC or a Mac work as a student, but outside of a few specific industries you will be working on a PC professionally. My company does not even offer Macs as an option, nor has any engineering company I have ever worked for.
