Can an international student meet full demonstrated need?

Can an international student (not applying to Amherst, Harv, MIT, Princeton, Yale) meet full demonstrated need?

Meeting full need is a fiancial aid process. Being need blind is an admissions process. The schools that you have mentioned are need blind, meaning that your ability to pay is not a factor in the admissions process.

There are other schools that meet 100% demonstrated need in the financial aid process but are need aware in the admissions process.

Because schools have limited financial aid budgets, especially for international students because all of their funding comes from the college, the ability to pay, will be a factor in to whether or not to admit you. But if they do admit you, they commit to meeting 100% demonstrated need (the school determines how much you need)

For these schools, needing a lot of the schools resources, could hurt you in the admissions process.

Adding to the above…there are MANY colleges that have limited or no financial aid for international students.

You need to read their websites under “international student financial aid”…carefully.

And some schools will be need aware for admissions for you, meaning that your ability to pay will be considered when you apply for admission.

Where ARE you thinking of applying? Maybe we could help you know the policies of,the schools you are actually interested in.

@thumper1 I am thinking about EMU, Elmira college, University of New Orleans and Westminister College(the one in MO). They said they will have a scholarship opportunity but the shcolarhsip will not be that huge.

Then you need to make sure that you apply to some affordable options. The biggest scholarships will come from the schools. Do not depend on outside scholarships to pay for you to attend college.

@sybbie719 So I should look for schools that give huge financial aids and not scholarships?

What is your goa and scores. Keep in mind that the schools with the most generous need based aid policies will also be the hardest schools to gain admission
