At a recent interview at one of HADES, the AO said to me at the end of the interview, "You're the one we're looking for. Off the record, you should be admitted. We will see you in March." I have good school grades, low 90 SSAT score, fluent at four languages, and many sports and music, with all self-taught. I am now so excited but I am wondering how reliable what the AO said is? Thanks!

When I was also applying for a HADES school, the woman told me “I can write you a stellar recommendation, but that’s all I can do for you in the admission’s process.” My guess is that interviewers write a recommendation for the people they interview, but after that, everything else is in the admission committee’s power.

No guarantees in any situation, but I’d say that the remarks the AO made to “hsnam95” were very encouraging. Depending on the school, it might have been rash, or even unprofessional, if there are more highly-qualified applicants than there are slots, but the “. . . see you in March” is a good sign. My older son had a great interview at his top choice, and the AO said he thought he’d be a “good fit;” that changed once his transcript and middle school teacher and principal reports went through. It doesn’t sound as if you have any problem there.

It is encouraging but don’t count your proverbial chickens before they hatch, especially if you need FA.

Agree with all of the above. Nice sign but not definitive, since the interviewer doesn’t make the decision alone, hasn’t seen the total applicant pool yet, and so many other factors come into play on an admissions decision. Good luck and try to keep an open mind to all the schools you are applying to.

i agree as well. I think it was slightly unprofessional for them to say this. Also, I was rejected at many schools that said similar things to this last year.
