I am a freshman at University of Central Florida and I currently hate it. I am in aerospace engineer major. I really cannot stand how everyone at UCF has no academic drive, and how "bad" the school is in general. I dont know why i even came here in the first place. I am wondering what my chances are for gettin in as a transfer.

Classes taken fall 2006
Calc1 - A
English comp 1 - A
Chemistry for engineers w/lab -A
Intro to Enginering - A
Sociology - A

Highschool GPA was roughly 3.2 (at a hard private school -_-)

SAT Math - 680
SAT Verbal - 580 (bad i know)
SAT Writing - 600

im half asian, so i guess on the app i would put asian because it fits me best.

I really want to get out ofmy college and go into a good college with a very god aerospace eng. program. I visited the campus over thanksgiving break and I had mixed feelings about it, it was nice on some parts and at the same time.. it felt bland to me. Can anyone tell me what it is like to be a UI student? what is student life like? it is a big party school (hoping its more of an academic atmosphere).

Any engineers have any input on academic/student life as an engineering student? do you like it? Do you like UI or your major? would you recomend i come here?

I will allow others to comment on the atmosphere. I just want to mention that you should be aware that the engineering college highly prefers transfers who apply for transfer into junior year (i.e., those who have at least 60 hours of transferable credit by the time they will begin classes at UIUC) and favors in-state residents for transfers. If you are not both of those, you should consider your chances of admission as a transfer to be slim.

:(, eh wel the reason i want to transfer is because i dont like where i am at all.... cant stand it, and because i want to go to a better college

oh well there are many asians at UIUC so instead of it actually benefiting you it may harm you just a teeny little bit because they might be a little relucatant to admit another asian person when there have been so many calls from the general public to make the campus more "diverse".

Ok to answer your questions about life at UofI...keep in mind this school is huge. There's 30,000 undergraduates. So when people say "party school" that hardly applies to the majority. peol who come here wanting oportunities to party will certainly find them, but there's also a very academic side to this school. Almost everyone, crazy drunken freshmen not included, tends to work hard in school and study a lot, especially the engineers. the engineering students have a really good community amongst themselves and tend not to party as much as other students. I don't know a lot about the aerospace neg. program except that it's really good. Chem E, ECE, and Bio E are also all fantastic.
