Can CAS students take business classes too?

I just want to make sure.
Can a CAS student take classes such as accounting too or are they only meant for Whartonites?

Yes .

Then what exactly are some benefits of going to Wharton instead of CAS? Is it likely for UPenn students to find a good job in accounting even if they didn't go to Wharton?

Wharton students will get a Wharton curriculum which is not just accounting or any sole segment of business, but everything. CAS students basically pick and choose what business classes they want to take. I'm interested in management and marketing but would rather take a good history class than an OPIM or finance class, so CAS is great for me.

If you wanted more of a focus on all aspects of business, then Wharton would be advantageous for you. Depending on your future employment interests, some employers will look more favorably on a "full" business education from Wharton.

The only things I can't do are reserve a study room in Huntsman Hall, and take MGMT-100 (oh darn!)

If you want a full business education, apply to the wharton school. if you want a liberal arts education with the option of dabbling in business, apply to CAS

very well said JohnnyK
