<p>(I didn't send in any extra pieces because i got the impression that extra stuff causes a bit of annoyance on the part of the adcom, but it was clear from my application that writing was my biggest passion, and i had a good essay in which i wrote about it.)</p>

<p>It can definitely be a hook. One of my friends writes for our local newspaper, something no one else in our school does.</p>
<p>Have you won anything with it?</p>
<p>well, i was published in 2 national poetry publications (which i listed on my honors/awards section), and a bunch of school ones.</p>
