Can freshmen even transfer for spring admission after one semester at college or do you have to wait until you are at least a rising sophomore?

If you are a freshman this term, you can transfer to some colleges for Spring 2008.

It is to your advantage to wait until the end of sophomore year to do so. Some colleges only accept junior, such as University of Virginia - McIntire and Emory - Guizeta or whatever :)

The idea behind transfer is that you show everyone what you have and what you can accomplish after high school. A semester isn't enough. Two semesters sometimes isn't enough, but its a WHOLE lot better than 1 semester.

People are generally eager towards transferring out, but take your time. Save some money. You seriously have all the time in the world.

Some colleges that accept Spring transfers with a minimal amount of credits (usually 12) are Indiana University-Bloomington, Fordham University, and Boston College.

Hope that helped.

Once again my advice is to apply for Fall 2008 transfer. Do not submit your application until you have gotten your Fall 2007 grades on your transcript.

^ When you say "some colleges only accept junior, such as the University of Virginia" did you mean junior SPRING transfers...or will only accept junior transfers at all?

Not sure. Check out their website. :)
