Can I accept an SIR and then cancel it? Acceptance letters released same day of UC SIR deadline!

Hey everyone,

I’m a transfer student and applying to several UC’s as well as the University of Southern California. USC releases acceptance letters later than the UC’s - they say they will release all acceptance/rejection letters by June 1st (the same day that is the deadline for UC SIR’s). However, if they give you a spring grade request, they have in the past accepted students as late as July 16.

If I do get a spring grade request, my CCC doesn’t end until June 26, and about a week later grades are posted. I’m assuming this means I can’t actually send my grades until sometime in July to hear back from USC.

What are my options? I really want to hear back from USC to weigh my decision, but this timeline makes it seem impossible. Can I ask for an extension for the SIR from the UC’s?

Thank you for your help!

You can withdraw an SIR. However, you will lose your deposit (and housing deposit, if you submit one).
