Would it be possible to cancel my SIR in July, or even August?

This is for UC and CSU.

Don't ask. :p

Would it be possible to cancel my SIR in July, or even August?

This is for UC and CSU.

Don't ask. :p

You can cancel as late as you need to. Just write them a note, let them know that your plans have changed and you won’t be attending after all, and thank them for admitting you in the first place. Keep track of their responses and make certain that you are not on the hook for tuition/fees/other bills. Pay attention to the details of the financial aid package(s) you do not want to have commitments to loans at more than one place at the same time. If you are in line to get state money, you had best find out if overlapping SIRs will cause problems for that.

I hope you aren’t implying that you accepted a spot at both a UC and CSU school and will make your final decision this summer. That is against the rules. And you’d be surprised how often schools end up finding out this happened. For example when they query the National Student Clearinghouse to confirm you are eligible for FA, only to find out you already have an award from another college.

CSU and UC are separate systems, so they won’t find out.

I’m thinking of doing (if accepted from the waitlist) this because of a possible rescind. I already accepted the CSU offer, but waiting for the UC offer.

If you are accepted off a waitlist yes you can cancel one just make sure you don’t accept the other until AFTER you cancel.

Unfortunately, I cannot do that due to a possible rescind.
Grades are finalized at the end of school, and that is in mid-June.
Deadline for the acceptance of the waitlist offer is around the middle of May, I believe.
