Can I apply for housing everywhere?

I have gotten accepted at a few safety schools but am still waiting to hear back from most schools. The schools have all said "Apply for housing as soon as possible!" The earlier you do, the higher priority your preferences are.

I am just confirming, I can't apply for housing until I have committed to a school, correct? For example, I can't apply for housing at School A and School B and School C now on the chance that I choose to go to one of those after I've heard back from all my schools?

Thank you!

You can pay an enrollment/housing deposit at schools where you’ve been accepted and apply for housing, while you wait to hear from other colleges and universities you’ve applied to.

But if you do that and then you decide later on that you’re going to attend one of those other colleges you’re currently waiting to hear from, you’ll probably lose any deposits you’ve put down elsewhere.

For rolling admission schools with responses in Oct-Dec, it’s frequent to deposit at several schools but it means you lose your deposit at some. You cannot do that with schools with regular admissions (and obviously NOT with Ed since presumably you will enroll at the school you chose for ED).

Right. I forgot about ED. If you get in under an early decision agreement, that’s where you’re going. (Unless you get insufficient financial aid.)

With regular decision schools, it’s not uncommon to deposit serially–first here, then there–but it’s not really cricket to put down multiple deposits at once.
