I want to apply to Williams early decision, but I would like to play it safer and apply to a school like UChicago, which offers non-restrictive non-binding early action at the same time. Is this possible?
You should apply ED to a college that’s your first choice, bar none. Is that Williams or Chicago?
It’s Williams for me I believe, so I 100% plan on applying there ED. I was just curious if it’s possible to also apply to an EA school at the same time.
Yes you can, as long as the EA school isn’t REA or SCEA (HYPS, GTown, BC)
Yes you can apply simultaneously to schools with regular EA, just not to those with Restrictive Early Action. And of course, if you are accepted to both, you are committed to attending the early decision school.
Williams does allow applicants to apply EA elsewhere, and UChicago is not single choice or restricted EA, so yes.
I believe you can as well. However, it is always wise to read each school’s website carefully as they typically spell these things out in a very clear manner.
Each school has different policies, but in general, you can apply to EDs and non restrictive EAs as many as possible.
