Can I begin applying for financial aid from sophomore yr?

Hi,
I'm an intl student and i'll enroll in a US college in Fall 2012. i didn't ask for FA when i first applied. A large part of my future tuition will come from my parents' income. But now there is a recent situation change. The firm where my parents work is not profitting so much as it used to when i was filling out my commonapp. And it turns out that my family will be able to cover a large portion, BUT NOT ALL, of my four years' expense. I want to begin applying for financial aid at the second yr of college. (not full aid, of course, but based on my family condition)
Will this work? Do they accept such aid request? Do i need any certification document to prove that the salary did decline?

The answer is ‘it depends.’ Many schools (including many of the most financially generous ones) will not consider internationals for FA if they do not apply for it initially.

You need to ask the financial aid dept at your college about its FA policies regarding internationals.

If your school allows you to apply for FA next year, you will need to provide documentation (in the form of tax documents, wage and bank statements, property valuations and anything else your particular school asks for),

And be prepared that even if they allow you to apply for FA, you may not get enough to cover your full need.
