If I have been offered a better scholarship at a school that I have not yet confirmed acceptance to, than a school that I have confirmed acceptance to, am I able to decline the school that I have confirmed acceptance to in favor of the one I am being offered more money?

I wonder why you didn’t wait until all your offers were in. I think you should collect some opinions before acting.Assuming you didn’t accept a binding offer, I believe that you can do that, maybe someone can say the best way to proceed. You don’t want to cross any ethical lines here.

Was the accepted school an ED school? Or was it a school that you accepted so that you could “get in line for housing”?

If you didn’t accept an ED school, then you just contact that accepted school and say that you’ve changed your mind. People do that all the time.

As others have said, unless you accepted an ED offer, it’s not a big deal to change your mind for whatever your reason might be. You may lose any deposits made. As Brown parent says, unless it’s to get preferential housing, or maybe some other incentive a college offers for a student to accept, it’s usually a good idea to wait until all of the info is on the table. Make sure the school from which you are withdrawing acceptance doesn’t have more aid that it might offer later in the season. My kids got offers at the 11th hour. You can make your self crazy accepting and changing and could lose out if you don’t compare offers and then make the decision as to which is the best choice.
