I submitted my application last night and the deadline is today. I mentioned my future in environmental science in most of my essays, but forgot to change my major at UCLA from sociology to an environmental science, though I do have environmental science as my backup major on the application. Should I change it? How would I change it? Is there someone I call, or a form to fill out? Thank you!
Contact admissions. Some schools will not let you change your major until you have matriculated and attend your first semester/quarter. Some will let you change before decisions are made.
there is no need to change your major now.
Environmental Science and Sociology are both majors in the College of Letters and Science. Admission to UCLA by this college does not take major into account.
As they say at https://www.ioes.ucla.edu/envisci/how-to-declare/ people at UCLA even change into this major as juniors or seniors.
If you end up enrolling at UCLA you can file the form to change your major to ES. There is no rush to do this because regardless of what your major is listed as by UCLA you can start taking the required lower division classes listed at https://www.ioes.ucla.edu/envisci/course-requirements/ as soon as you start at UCLA. None of these classes are restricted to majors-only.
