Hello. I took 2 classes at a community college for a grand total of 6 credits. I was looking at a college my friend goes to and there is a merit scholarship that pays for a freshman students whole tuition if they have a 3.5+ GPA and an ACT score of 32-36. I just need to raise my ACT score a point to qualify (so I would retake it), but ONLY freshman can receive the award. So, is there anyway I can just pretend I never took the two community college classes and then apply to college #2 as a freshman?
thank you!
You cannot “pretend”. If found out you would be expelled. Check the school’s website. many colleges consider having 12 or fewer credits still eligible for freshman status.
Just apply as a freshman. Almost all colleges would treat you that way with only 6 credits.
HS kids take local college courses all the time, still enter as freshmen.
With 6 credits most colleges will treat you as a freshmen anyway. There is not need to lie. Are the two classes dual enrollment credits.
You can’t “erase” your transcript.
Are you still in HS? My understanding is if the courses are taken after graduation you are not eligible to apply as a freshman. If you’re not still in HS why not call the school?
Some schools will consider you a transfer student if you have taken an community college courses after HS graduation. If you have grades for those 2 classes, you have a transcript and anywhere you transfer, you will be required to submit that transcript. There is also a Clearinghouse that will have a record of you attending any college, so you cannot lie about not going.
As stated above, you need to check the school of interest on their transfer policy.
I mean, those 2 classes could just be you taking courses for your own personal interest. Just apply as a freshman IMO
@ArmaanCH: OP would still have to send a transcript even if the classes were for personal interest. It will be up to school to decide if OP is a transfer or a freshman applicant. Do not lie since there could be major repercussions later down the road.
In that case, just send the transcripts. 6 credits is definitely not enough to be considered a transfer. Most colleges require 24 minimum or 30
Please stop spouting things off as if you know for sure. At my school it’s 17 credits. It’s different everywhere. OP cannot assume any rule of thumb.
I can name 29 schools in California in which OP would be considered a transfer instead of a Freshman due to those 6 credits: Cal states and UC’s.
