Tel¬l us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution, or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?
At this famished moment, I struggled to evaluate my presence in the second floor building of the desolate YMCA gym. In my whole twenty-four minutes here, I had successfully trudged up the stairs, taken a sip of deliciously filtered fountain water, and looked over my abs in sheer delight. Thats why I was here.
Life treats everyone in a different manner. I started as a freshman joining our basketball team in hopes of becoming a Bulldog. Two sweat-building hours afterschool for a whole season turned me into an athlete. It gave me a satisfaction I never experienced before, so I gave it two more seasons. This satisfaction changed me as a person. While I didnt know it before, the conditioning I went through in basketball was actually indirectly conditioning me in academics. The endurance I developed from running fifteen suicides a day transitioned itself to become the extensive nights I now spend finishing up even the most negligible assignment. With my newfound dedication I eventually caught myself receiving awards such as MVP and the Scholar Athlete Award, which led on to becoming team captain of the JV basketball team while I casually kept up in all my AP classes.
Prioritization and volition are what separate me from others. Given my personal quality, I am able to think critically in situations as well as overcome hindrances presented upon me at any inconvenience. With my passion for fitness, I developed a feeling of confidence in life, which comes first to any characteristic I can think of. The dedication of the early mornings and late nights I put in to reach this level transformed into something much bigger than physical fitness itself, it reflected the person I was. On a typical day in the past I might have eaten until I leisurely passed out on my parents queen size bed. My mom would then make a remark at me, calling me a khoz. Today, it feels good to watch her do the same, while this time I am the one making a witty remark at her. It is little things like that, which add up to make such an impact in my personality. My will is what gives me the motivation to keep going in sports and fitness, as well as in challenging situations in new surroundings.
Every waking day, I am suffocated by my parents telling me what to do. Get good grades to be something in life, wear a jacket, eat your vegetables, they say. What makes me proud of my lifestyle is that no one motivated me to do this. I educated myself in fitness and I made my own decision to change my body, as well as my life. Words alone cant describe the pride I feel, however, my confidence portrayed in life does a good job at showing it. They say that nothing in life is free, so if this nightmare full of everlasting opportunities is what we call life, then I dont think Id mind living in it.
