I want to major in math and environmental science and there is like no overlap between the two majors. I’m going to a college that is on the semester system. I know there’s the whole :you have to work really hard" aspect, but what does that exactly mean? Thanks in advance!
It’s probably possible, but there are a lot of questions to consider.
What are the requirements for the majors? Would you one degree with two majors, or two degrees? (You’ll probably have multiple options. For example, my school allows you to have two majors on a B.A. degree, but you have to get two degrees if you want two B.S. majors. It would be easier to get a B.A. in math and environmental science than it would be to get a B.S. in math and a B.S. in environmental science.)
How much transfer credit do you have?
How many courses are you willing to take each semester?
Will it be difficult to schedule the courses you need?
Are you going to have a minor?
If you have lots of AP credits that takes care of intro math/science classes and some humanity/Fine Arts/Social behavioral classes, then yes. If you have zero AP/CC/CLEP or any kind of transferable credits, then it will be very hard/
As said above, it depends on how many units you came into college with, as well as your usual workload.
If you find yourself taking more units because you don’t feel challenged, then go ahead. Too much spare time, go ahead.
Very possible. Depends on credits your college requires, AP credits, and how much you can handle yourself. Don’t overload yourself, double major is hard work
What’s wrong with doing one and taking your electives in the other?
If you really want us to help, we’ll have to see the exact academic requirements at your school. It’s more possible some places than others.
