Can I double major at Duke university in nursing and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies?

Hi, I am thinking about applying to Duke, but I would like to know if I could double major in nursing and Asian and Middle Eastern studies because I am becoming a nurse, but would like to also major in Asian and Middle Eastern studies.
Thank you!

Take a look at the degree requirements for those two majors, and see if it is possible to fit all of the coursework into four years. That information is on the website. Nursing has a lot of specific requirements that must be taken in a strict sequence, as well as all of the clinical hours.

As an undergrad? You cannot major in nursing at Duke coming in as a new freshman. The Nursing Schools offers an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing to those that have ALREADY obtained a bachelor’s degree.

So, assuming you’re coming from high school, no, you cannot double major in nursing and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies simply because you cannot major in nursing. Otherwise, double majors are common at Duke.

See here for a complete list of Trininty majors/minors:

Pratt, of course, offers engineering majors/minors as well. But those are the only two schools you can be admitted to as an undergrad – Public Policy is part of the Sanford School but undergraduates are admitted to Trinity.

If you want to be a nurse, you can major in basically anything as long as you fulfill the requirements for an advanced degree in nursing which you’ll have to apply to towards the end of your undergraduate career.

Good luck!
