Can I transfer from Trinity to Pratt and then add my old Trinity major?
Transferring between Trinity and Pratt is extremely easy once you get into Duke. However, you must declare your major by the end of your sophomore year, which means you must stay part of either Trinity and Pratt by then too. You could stay in Pratt while majoring in Engineering and still take classes in Trinity. However, obtaining a major in Trinity while pursuing your main Engineering degree in Pratt may be difficult due to the course load that you must complete in Pratt as a priority. I have certainly heard a few students that obtained a minor in Trinity, but a major might be difficult.
I thought Pratt did not offer engineering. They did about 30 years ago, but phased out their engineering school. Did they reinstate it?
@Engineer80 I’m not sure I understand your question. Pratt is the engineering school at Duke. If i remember correctly, the College of engineering was created about 70 years ago. My daughter is a junior in engineering.
Pratt students can certainly do a second major in Trinity. The question is managing the workload. Majors that are related to engineering (math, chemistry, physics) are not that uncommon.
@Doublekk2 - My mistake, I thought the school being discussed was Pratt Institute in NYC, which had an engineering school some 30 years ago.
Stand corrected.
No worries! Have a great day!
