I didn’t really want to overwhelm myself my senior year with AP classes since I have so many extra stuff going on (MA Credential, Sports, ASB, Internships) but my counselor gave me AP English Lit since I originally planned on applying to UCSD. I however was never planning on taking the AP test (since I have to pay $98 and AP Lit has nothing to do with what I want to major in) not to mention the class average is a 68% and I hold #12 in my class at a 76%. As I applied to colleges I decided I want to attend to SDSU and only applied to 3 other Cal States not to mention I am guaranteed admission into SDSU due to compact for success. So my question is, can I drop AP Lit second semester? I would be taking ERWC which is a class to exempt you from freshman english in college instead and the rigor of the course is that of English 12 Honors.
Ask your counselor if school rules allow it.
You need 4 years of English as a CSU a-g course requirement so you are saying that ERWC will fulfill this requirement? I would ask your counselor if this allowed as stated above^^^^. It is to your benefit to continue with the AP Lit class and take the test since SDSU is very generous with AP credit and you may get to opt out of a GE course for Freshman year (which would save you more than the $98 fee for the exam).
