Can I get a driving licence in Ithaca?

Where I'm from, it takes forever to get a licence. I applied last August almost immediately after I'd turned 18 (which is the driving age here) and the waiting list was so long it took 8 months for them to get back to me. So in April of this year I finally start my driving theory classes, finish them in a week and pass the test (which was actually just a few days ago) and now they tell me that I have to wait another 4 MONTHS to start my actual driving classes on the road!!! Which makes it August and I think I have somewhere else to be in August - oh right, Cornell. So basically I can't even start my proper classes here; hence the title of the thread. And take into consideration that I'm an int. student on an F-1 visa when you're answering.

It took everything I had to refrain from swearing in this post because I know theres no way I can do justice to the extent of my anger towards those ..... ahem at the institute on an online forum.

Yes. I know a couple of students who did it. And I think you will find your fellow students more than eager to help you learn to drive.

Do I need a driver's license to get an ibanking job because I am afraid to drive on the road.

Drive off the road, maybe?

Um, it's NYS. So, get into contact with the state about it. Maybe, they'll have an answer. Otherwise, public transportation is pretty decent. There's always coach buses for long distances...and other people.

I think that in order to have an NYS license, you need to declare yourself a resident of NYS. But I may be wrong on this....it would be a good idea to get in contact with the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles...or check their website.

Yep. But, you need to establish residency first. The OP might need to actually move off campus to establish that. Not sure though.
