I moved to america when i was in 5th grade and until now my family and I are still on visa. We arent citizens but we have applied for green card which is suppose to come by next year! Does this mean i apply as a foreign student? Do i take the toefl?

You are an international applicant until you have your green card. But the state where you live might consider you an in-state resident, so you need to find out what the policy is there. You also need to find out if you can study with your current visa status, or if you will ned to change to an F-1.

Each college sets its own policy about the TOEFL so you do need to read through each website very carefully. Some might accept other exam scores or even have their own tests.

happymom is right…

Some states will charge their int’l residents instate rates.

However, you still will not qualify for any federal aid and probably not any state aid either.

The only aid you’d likely get is…institutional aid from the few schools that give aid to int’ls…OR…merit scholarships from the schools that give merit scholarships to int’ls.

What is your situation?

How much will your parents pay each year?

What are your stats (include SAT breakdown and GPA and weighted GPA).

What state are you in?
