A letter for community service? I never heard of that. You look good. Your ACT is great and your grades may be a shade low but I don’t think that would hurt you really. You need to write really great essays that let your personality come through. My daughter got in EA and her essays were very unique and I think the readers picked up on that (a card she received during the holidays told her that they liked her essays). Good luck and don’t underestimated the power of the essays.

Thank you! The general theme I get is essays are important. And the community service letter is for 80 hours in a year, it is an official letter of my school. Maybe motivation for good works? Not that I need it, but it helps!

eagle69, I am curious do you go to a Catholic high school or public? My daughter’s hs which is Catholic mandates a certain number of community service hours per year but really with all of the service groups at school it isn’t too hard to do, but it is no where near 80 hours. Is the service letter just like an athletic letter at your school?

I go to a public school. It is equivalent to an athletic letter, which you can get a letter jacket for and put on it (no one does though cause its kinda lame to wear… Like a band letter) Oh I’d also like to add that I have a weight lifting letter as well.

Does applying early make sense for me?

I would say you probably fit the EA applicant pool, especially with your test scores.

Would anyone define Notre Dame as a match for me?

i think with ur ACT score it seems like a match

I’d like to update my senior schedule:

AP: Calc BC, Econ, Bio, US gov (1st), Comp Gov (2nd)
Regular: Concert band (highest level), Film and lit

Notre Dame really likes to see you involved in activities aside from your academics. And it seems like you are in good shape with respect to both your academic scores as well as involvement in athletics and community service. Given your facts, I think you are a good match for Notre Dame and vice versa.

Thank you! My mom is concerned slightly because I’m not catholic, but I have been to notre dame several times and really like the feel, and don’t mind attending catholic services and exploring my faith, so I really like notre dame!!

Is early action a good idea for me?
