Hi! I am from out of state (Michigan), have a gpa of 3.47 weighted (3.13 uw), 32 act, and my estimated RAI is about 270, im just not sure on which classes qualify for core curriculum.

also, i have heard that they reply relatively fast? does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Yes, you can probably get in to ISU with those stats. Any class that is under the categories of Social Studies (US history, World History, AP Euro, Geography, etc.), Math, English, Science(Biology, physics, chemistry, APES, etc.), and Foreign Language are core classes, so any music, art, cooking, or “fun” classes do not count.

I applied and got a response about three days later, they send you an email, and then you get the official acceptance in the mail a few weeks later along with a school packet if you are accepted.

I wouldn’t worry about it, I’m pretty sure you’re getting in. As long as you were accurate with the information you gave the school on your academics, you should be fine.

Good Luck!

You will be fine…generally it takes about 2 - 3 days and they send you an email acceptance. The formal packet comes in about 10 days/2 weeks.

You will love Iowa State! It really is a great place. What is your major going to be?

Got it! It’s the first one I’ve gotten this year after an early action deferral from Michigan State. Thank you for your help :)

If I attend, I’ll probably major in computer science or marketing.

A big plus for ISU…

ISU OOS Tuition/Fees/Room/Board is $27,000.

Iowa OOS is about $34,000.

ISU may also offer you a small scholarship.
