I am a rising junior in high school and Baylor is one of my top choices. I am stressing out over whether I will be able to get in. I have a 3.75 UW GPA and a 4.8 W GPA. I am a 2 year Varsity Cheerleader and I am the Beta Club historian. I am in the National junior honor society. I am also in the school newspaper, Student Council, the National Society of Black Engineers, Junior Iron Dukes, Bio Moto, and our school AoiT program. I am taking AP courses now and I have an A in that class. My junior year I allowed to get involved in the National Honor Society and the National Technical Society. I am taking an ACT Prep Course and will be taking the ACT in the coming months. The first time I took the ACT as sophomore I scored a 30. I know I need to get my ACT up but that other than that can I get into Baylor? I am also doing an internship at NASA.
Hey there Michaela!
Just for reference, there is a forum exclusively for chance threads which you can find here (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/)
But to answer your question, I would say that your stats are on the upper end of admitted students at Baylor. Rigor of your coursework is going to matter for admissions counselors but if you’re taking AP classes, I think you are going to be fine. Your ACT score at the moment is pretty solid and you can definitely quality for a merit scholarship with that score, but increasing your score would help you at least get a more substantial scholarship.
If you’re looking for some advice to help “boost your chances” to get an offer of admission at Baylor, I would simply say enjoy the last days of high school and take your senior year to reflect on what you want and who you want to be moving forward. Stats and accomplishments are important, and you’re definitely on the right track, but they aren’t the only factors in Baylor admission. Write honestly in your essays, do as best as you can your senior year. You’ll end up somewhere great for sure.
Good luck!
