Can I get into Boston U?

Let me rephrase that, will I likely get into BU?

SAT:
math 600
reading 620
writing 660
but i only took it once yet, i expect to go up about 50 points in each section

ACT: 26
but canceled sending this one as soon as i got home cause i finished about half of the last section.
(i got a 21 on science, with out it id average 31)

ranked 30 in class of 314

2 sport varsity athlete

am bilingual, i lived in Germany for 3 years, including freshman year.

i dont need to apply for financial aid, not sure if that would help.

If you increased each section by 50 points then I would say that it is likely that you would get into BU. Right now I would say it is a low reach for you.

Could you chance me?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/739446-chances-colgate-nd-bc.html</a></p>

thanks. any tips on scoring better on sats? my only problem is finishing the sections, i usually have a two or so questions left when time is callled.

ur rank is really good! just try and get up your SAT’s a little bit. if you sent in your app now however you still have like a 50 50 chance of being admitted.

thanks man, positive reinforcement is always nice. in elementary and middle school i always scored 99th percentile on all standardized testing, and my sats are waaaaay below that :/

i’d say if your ECs are good, you bring up your SAT or ACT a bit, then you’ve got a good shot. some people jsut dont answer questions fast enough, it hurts a lot of people. like on the ACT science section (kinda like you) i just kept bombing. so i took a bunch of practice tests to help time myself better the week before the test date and i got a 33 on the science section (a 7 point improvement).

Yes easily, my friend got in with a 1910 and he wasn’t top 10 percent

ya i think you can LIKELY get into BU, the 1880 and probably over 2000 in the future is more than enough and your ranking and ECs are good enough. If you right your essay about when you were in Germany or something about being bilingual then you should definitely get in.

HOPE THIS HELPED AND GOOD LUCK!!!
chance me back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/735932-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

hey thanks morgan, ill chance ya back :)

Yep, definitely low reach / match.

Best of luck!

Chance back?: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736783-chances-following-colleges-cali-east-coast.html</a></p>

do you think it would help to add that i’m a translator for the local courthouse?

Yes, all of those unique ECs help! I think that currently its a slight reach, but with a slightly increased SAT you can do it fa sho :)

except i just realized that the next SAT date is in october, and i want to apply ED!!! O_O cuttting it close!!

With an improved SAT score, I think you have a great chance of getting in!

You asked for suggestions on bringing up your SATs. The best thing to do is to pick up the College Board’s study guide, and go through all the practice info and questions. Then, for a few days before the SATs, cram cram cram. Make them your life. Focus on doing things in time, and you’ll do much better.

I imagine you’re a good candidate for BU right now - your scores are in the Mid 50%. Just try to improve them somewhat, and you’ll do great! Good luck, amigo.

I think as of right now, most likely, and if you get your scores up definitely. I had the same thing with the ACTs, without science my score would have been much better. For SAT suggestions, just sit down and take as many tests as you can, and do the sections of each test that you feel you need the most work on. For example, I was fine with the reading passages but needed vocab so I just kept doing vocab sections and math. Also, jot down the vocab you don’t know from practice tests because they end up appearing again. Good luck! =D

best chance yet, i appreciate the advice. Is it sad that thats the bet thing thats happened to me today?

does early decision make it easier or harder to get into? people say easier, but the percentage was lower. I do realize this could result from a weak applicant pool though.

if you get sat up like 2000+, you should be well in

if i even have time before ED :P
