Can I get into Carolina?

I am a rising junior in high school and Carolina is one of my number 1 choices. I am stressing out over whether I will be able to get in. I have a 3.75 UW GPA and a 4.8 W GPA. I am a 2 year Varsity Cheerleader and I am the Beta Club historian. I am in the National junior honor society. I am also in the school newspaper, Student Council, the National Society of Black Engineers, Bio Moto, and our school AoiT program. I am taking AP courses now and I have an A in that class. My junior year I allowed to get involved in the National Honor Society and the National Technical Society. I am taking an ACT Prep Course and will be taking the ACT in the coming months. The first time I took the ACT as sophomore I scored a 30. I know I need to get my ACT up but that other than that can I get into Carolina? Also my mother went to the school. I do live in North Carolina.

I think you’ll be fine since you’re in-state. :slight_smile:

If you get a 30-31 you have a great chance since you’re instate and have a legacy

s stated above you are in good shape if you are in-state.

@pschnee Legacy status isn’t considered at UNC

Are you in RTP or Charlotte areas?

Charlotte area @NCmom14 and when I went to visit the administrative offices they said that it was considered a little bit but maybe that was for out of state. @chancethisanon

ur chances will decrease by approximately 20% when UNC wins the NCAA tournament

@darkhound173 I thought so…

@chancethisanon pretty sure legacy status is considered at Chapel Hill…

^ Not for instate students; and otherwise, only as a sort of “tie-breaker.”

I had very similar stats. My GPA was a tad bit lower, no cheerleading, and a 1440/1600
2100/2400 SAT. I did have some district and state level awards though. I was accepted and chosen for Excel Carolina, so I would say you’re in.
