Can I get into Chapman, Occidental, NYU, and some UC's? Tell me where I should apply.

Hey guys… so I am a senior in Highschool and I have a pretty crappy gpa. I have a 3.45 unweighted. I just want to know where I might be able to get accepted. I want to major in Buisness/Compsci

I had serious health problems with cancer in the early years of my highschool. It was kinda hard for me to focus on school at that time…(I am going to probably write about this in my essays)

SAT:2250
GPA:3.45U

I have gotten C’s during the first 2 yrs of my highschool due to constant checkups and missing school.

My son got into Occidental, Pitzer, UCSD (liberal arts, not a Tech program), and UCD (also liberal arts) from out-of-state with a comparable unweighted GPA (no medical excuses) and lower test scores. I understand that UC admissions were brutal this year. I don’t know anything about Chapman. I do know that Computer Science and Engineering departments at UCs have almost Ivy/Stanford-level acceptance rates. My son might have had some geographic diversity working in his favor at Oxy (NJ), but he also demonstrated interest. We visited their campus, and then he went to some trouble for an interview with a field representative on the East Coast. I think an adviser ought to be able to discuss your medical challenges in a letter of recommendation. The UCs don’t consider letters of recommendation, but their essay prompts usually ask about overcoming personal obstacles and challenges.

Thank you so much!! @woogzmama‌

do you guys think i have a chance at U of Washington and Georgia Tech??

If you are looking at Engineering and Computer Science, UW is also fiercely competitive. I can’t speak for GA Tech. I think you have a chance, but it’s a competitive field, and you’ll need to apply to plenty of genuine safeties, also.

got it! thx @woogzmama‌
