So I'm a Junior turning into a Senior. I am very stressed about getting into college and whether or not i would be qualified and have a chance of getting into a decent school. I am open to going to colleges in my home state (California) as well as other colleges that are out of state. Some colleges I would like to go to in California are UCR and/or UCM. As for the out of state colleges, I have no clue but am open to suggestions.

GPA: 3.2 weighted, 2.8 unweighted (will probably increase after 2nd semester of Junior year is included, which will probably be a 3.6)
SAT: 1730 (retaking it)
Community Service: freshman year-200, sophomore year- 200, junior- 350
Extra curricular: Robotics, few club positions, taking community college classes (currently 2), making an art portfolio

I would like to major in psychology or sociology or law.

If you guys can get back to me that would be great!

I believe you have pretty good chances of attending UC Riverside or UC Merced. So as long as you get that Unweighted GPA above a 3.0 by the end of your junior year… which i believe is a requirement for UCs. You have very good SAT scores and extracurriculars which i think give you a foothold into a UC.

I know Out-of-State Tuition Costs are a killer but you can look at school in Other States like Arizona if you are in SoCal, or if you are in the northen part maybe Oregon.

You need to calculate you UC/CSU GPA to gain a real assessment of your chances. The exclude freshman year and non-college prep courses, cap you AP bonus and drop the +/-. It can go either way but, most times, the UC GPA is .2 - .3 lower.

If your UC GPA is around 3.6 and you can bring your SAT up to 1850, you’ve got a shot at UCM and UCR. bringing your cume GPA from 3.2 up to 3.6 is a HUGE bump for one semester. I’d ask you to double check your math and be realistic about your performance this semester.

I’d suggest you broaden your focus to include some of the mid tier CSUs. How about Sonoma, Northridge or Chico?

Ohh sorry I meant that I will probably have a 3.6 gpa for junior year second semester.
