so i'm a junior in maine (male, white) and i'm pretty sure that i want to be a poli sci. i go to a semi private school and right now i feel as if conn coll is MY school. i also like kenyon, wheaton (MA) and trinity (CT).
my classes:
freshmen: algebra 1, pre-ap english, french, hon. physics, world history, and then requirements/electives
sophmore: hon. geometry, biology, pre-ap english, french, and requirements/electives
junior: AP english lang., AP us history, AP french lang., hon. chem, advanced algebra/trig, and spanish.
senior: (so far) AP english lit., AP euro, AP french, AP enviormental, precal, and a world studies class.
i've taken almost all the hard classes. the only think that i could have done differently was take accelerated math freshmen and sophmore years to land me in calc by senior year (which would have let me take AP bio as well), but i tried that and thought it was too fast for me. during the summer between my sophmore and junior years i skipped spanish 1 to get into spanish two and i spent three weeks in montreal studying to skip a year of french. my senior year of french will be more of an independant study where i'll work with the people in the AP lang. class but more advanced.
my GPA is around 3.5 (unweighted), but if you took away all my math/science classes it would be more like a 3.8-3.9. i'm more of a B student in math/science.
no idea about my class rank (sorry) but i imagine conservatively that i'm at least top 25%
i will have done cross country and track for four years with three varsity letters in each. three years of indoor track with three varsity letters.
i'm in international club, civil rights team, peer tutors, and NHS and will be co-founding a debate team (i'll be joining the young democrats in our school when it gets founded).
i did good on my PSAT's (no SAT's yet, sorry) and they put me in the high 600 to low 700 in english, and lower 600 in math. i have a feeling that the essay on the SAT will be a slam dunk.
i've ranked in the national french exam and took a small homestay trip with the school to france my freshmen year.
i've done horseback riding for 10 years and figure skating for three.
i've worked in a restaurant and spent a summer working on a ranch in montana.
i'm a dual citizen, i'm american and german. i speak german fluently but can't read or write (i speak it with my german mother). both sides of my family are distinctly international and i've seen a lot of europe.
i think i've remembered everything.
so, can i get into conn coll? i've thought about this a lot and any other recommendations would be great...
