Ok so I have wanted to get into FSU my whole life I have 1490, 1020 SAT 3.6 gpa I am in a sport, I was state champ my
freshman year 2nd place next 2 years was on varsity for all 4 years did travel sport, I am in 1 club I have 150+ service hours, I am in-state, I go to a prestigious catholic school (if that helps), I am hispanic (affirmative action if that helps either) and I am taking SAT courses to help, I also have shown alot of demonstrated interest by going to tallahassee and attending their guidance session at my school.
Check to see if your “weighted” GPA falls within the 3.8 to 4.3 range. To calculate the GPA, give honor classes an extra 0.5 points and AP/IB/AICE/DE classes and extra 1.0 point. So, a B in a standard class is worth 3.0 points, in an honor class it’s worth 3.5, and in an AP class it’s worth 4.0.
You’ll need to re-take your SAT test, and try to raise your score. If you can get your stats into the middle 50% range, you are a match.
Florida public universities do not use affirmative action. However, along with your EC’s, FSU does consider if you the first one in your family to complete college (First generation).
Good Luck!
BTW: Admissions is easier if you apply for Summer B. For those students accepted into Summer B (vs. the Fall), the middle 50% for GPA was 3.6 to 4.1.
The middle 50% for SAT was:
M: 550-640
R: 550-630
W: 550-630
well the admissons officer that came to my school told me to apply for fall because we get considered for summer any way and i am firstchild first gneration to go to college
^^^Sounds good
