SAT score: 1690 super scored. math-480 reading-610 writing-600

I was in the IB program for 3 years. My senior schedule is strong, i am taking all honors and APs. I have an officer position in a really big club. My essay and resume were strong. I come from a low income family. I’m white.

Do you think there is any chance i could get in? I know my math score is low. I have studied so much with the books, but my family cannot afford a tutor. I am taking it again in December but I am not sure I could get it over 500. I have struggled with math my whole life. It’s my worst subject. FSU is my dream school and I don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get in

Check with your guidance counselor-- are there any kids who need community service hours who could tutor you in math? I’d also try the ACT-- some people score significantly higher on one or the other test.

As far as “I don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get in” there are a couple of options: community college then transfer, another state school (like FAM, or FGCU, both of whom have lower admissions expectations, plus if you were at FAM you could take classes at FSU anyway), another school then transfer after a year. There are plenty of Plan Bs available. It’s always a good idea to have one, even if you were a straight A valedictorian who spent the summers researching the link between Hostess Cupcakes and Ebola.
