Can I get into Michigan State University?

<p>Hello all,
I'm a African American male, and alsorising senior, and I was checking out some colleges today and MSU is now the top of my list. However, my transcript doesn't really look so good compared to others.</p>

<p>Freshman year</p>

<p>Algebra 1:B-
English 9 :B
Physics: C-
World History 2: B
Health: B+
Bioengineering, Informational Technology, Enginneering: A-</p>

<p>GPA 2.7</p>

<p>Sophmore Year</p>

<p>Chemistry:A-
French 1: B
Geometry:B-
Honors English 10: D
Honors History 1: B-
TC World of information: B+</p>

<p>GPA: 2.6</p>

<p>Junior Year</p>

<p>English 11: A
Honors U.S. History: B+
French 2: B+
Algebra 2: A-
Honors Biology: C-
Digital Film & TV Production: A-
Informational Technology 2: A-</p>

<p>GPA: 3.3</p>

<p>I took the SAT's in June and got a 1360..
Reading :510
Math:400
Writing:450</p>

<p>I'm going to be retaking the SAT's again and actually studying. I will also take the ACT.</p>

<p>I played Lacrosse Freshmen year, got First Honors this year, participated in National History Day, and some History essay contest. I have a college essay, and other than that I will be joining clubs and doing sports this year.</p>

<p>Is there a chance? Or should I give up? Also, if i'm unlikely to get in, what other schools should I be looking into with my kind of transcript?</p>

<p>You definitely SHOULD NOT give up. There is always a chance for those who aspire.
I admit that your grades are not as good as they can be (and its a bit late to show steady improvement), and your extracurriculars are not sufficient.
What you could do is apply to a community college for 2 years, then once you do very well there, you can transfer into a very good 4 year college as a junior. </p>
