Hey there…I’m from Southern Ohio, so a ton of people I know have applied to OSU.

Your commitment to lacrosse and service is impressive, and your ACT looks good. Your GPA is on the low side, but you did mention that 12 of your classes were AP or honors, which should help a little.

Especially given your scores & ECs, I think you have a shot. However, given your GPA and the fact that you are from out of state, you’ll want to write strong written responses/Why OSU essays that clearly show your interest in attending. They could really roll the dice in your favor

I’m from Ohio too and from what I’ve seen and heard, your chances seem pretty good! Although, your GPA is a little low, your ACT scores and extracurriculars are really good. Just try to write a reallyyy good essay. Just make sure to enforce the fact that you really want to go there and you should be fine!

Please chance me back if you get a chance!
(I don’t know how to post a link but here is the title…thankss!) Wake Forest, ND, BC, Villanova

Write a reasonable strong essay - I live in southern Ohio and know a lot of people going to/that go to OSU, it’s not terribly selective. Out of state hurts a little, but put in some effort into your (brief) essay and see how you do.

based on your ECs and ACT scores i would say that you have a pretty good chance. make sure you right a very good essay and get some good recs from teachers

Your GPA is pretty much the only blemish on your application here. As long as you wrote good essays and had good recommendations, I think you should be fine. ACT score, EC’s, and sports look good. They’ll like your commitment. Good Luck!

Contrary to what everyone else is saying, out of state may help you. You have to remember that Ohio wants students to pay out of state tuition. That being said, that GPA might hurt your overall app. You may want to check out the Ohio state board here on the site. You can see a thread dedicated to students’ admission decisions.
