I have a 3.2 gpa as a sophomore at a highly ranked high school. I have 2 varsity letters in tennis and will get two more, and hoping for 2 varsity letters in hockey and soccer (junior senior year) I participated in Leadership Academy, Trojan Wall (clubs at my school). I am hoping for good sat and act scores and have already started preparing. Also, I know i need better gpa. I would be fine with going to UConn (from CT) and my first choice is OSU. What are my chances to get in? I was thinking of taking a gap year after high school and get state residency in Ohio because I have family living there. Would that help or be a smart decision?
Lastly, what other schools are in my range?(preferably d 1 basketball schools)

I know this is a lot of info but any advice is much appreciated.

Also I would be willing to go to Ohio University and then tranfsering after a year or less.

With a 3.2 GPA, it will be contingent upon your SAT scores. Try to increase your GPA next year and that should help also. Good luck. OSU is a great school.

If you are not admitted to main campus at OSU they have several satellites where you can do one or two years and transfer to main campus. Your transcript and diploma only show OSU.

The satellite campuses are open admission for Ohio residents, check for out of state on the web page, or call admissions to see if that policy applies to out of state students.

OSU is a great school.

thanks for the replys. What do u think of the idea of taking the gap year to get ohio state residency?

I applied out of state this year (from Indiana) and got rejected. I have a 3.7 GPA and an 1820 combined SAT. i played varsity lacrosse for 4 years, was in student council for 4 years, DECA for 1 year, president of the women’s club of my school, did key club for 4 years and spanish club for 4 years. you have a lot higher chance than me though if you’re instate. Ohio State’s a great school and it was my dream school for a long time. I worked hard to get accepted but didnt even get that. keep trying with your grades as well. my uncle was in state and got rejected, went to a branch campus for a year, and then transferred and loved it. keep your options open too. you’ll never know what’ll happen.

mmid- when did you apply?

sportsfan- apply early in the year, around October.
