anyone? please? bump

Hi
Your stats are fine for Oxbridge or ICL, but why do you want to go there when you have already got into Duke. It will mean starting over again. Don’t worry about ecs as UK unis aren’t that interested, you will have to have a great personal statement and the interview will really be the deciding factor.

thank you for your opinion. so basically i just need to nail the interview and personal statement? well i’m applying there b/c I kind of already wanted to do that last year and I never really had the chance too. Also, I like the idea of a 5 year medicine program vs. a B.S at Duke first. I’m pretty committed to it and I think this program might be suitable for me. do you think otherwise?

Hi,
Another thought if you wanted to study abroad is the Royal College of surgeons in Dublin, they have lower entrance points and are slightly more accessible than the top Uk unis. My daughter is thinking about Dublin, either RCSI or Trinity college.

ah, I see. thanks for the suggestions! also do you happen to know how finance works for these universities if I were to be accepted.

Hi,
I have just checked the fees for oxbridge approx 14,000 pounds, I can’t find an amount for the irish unis. There are some scholarships available bit they are not common in the uk. The prices I quoted are for tuition only you would also have to find another 10,000 pounds for living expenses. It is a lot of money but still cheaper than an international going to the US.
Had another quick look and for Trinity College the cost wil be 15,000 euros for most courses but obviously more for medicine.

They will ignore non-sciences, so your relevent APs are

Not sure about Psychology. They might ask about your grades at Duke so far too.

Understand there is a quota. The UK has to recruit enough UK/EU students to fill all the predicted vacancies in the national health service. This means medicine is far far far harder for internationals to get in to. Only 6-7 internationals get in to oxford each year. So no matter your stats, it will be extremely difficult. You will get non financial aid and it’s very expensive (see other posts above). I don’t want to sound negative, but if you think this is an easy option, you need to be aware that you have been misled.
