Hi everybody, I’m a chinese student who is now currently planning to apply to University of Rochester on ED1. I have a TOEFL of 110, old SAT 2100 superscored, and I study IB and my predicted score maybe a 35 or 36 out of 42. I have been to Emory’s precollege program this summer and I got a recommendation letter from one of Emory’s professors. Also, I have a kickass personal statement essay on basketball about how it changed my life and winning my school a championship. I just want to know what are the odds for me to get into Rochester because I really like the school. In my previous thread, I wanted to ED1 Emory. However, after I talked to my guidance counselor, we both thought that I have a better shot at Rochester. So I am now planning to apply to Emory on ED2 and Rochester on ED1.
@WFLMSer : If you want to come to Emory, you should attempt ED1 at Emory as the chances through ED1 are higher than ED2 or RD. Whichever school you want, that should be the one you go for in ED1. You do ED1 for those to increase your chances. ED1 should be the one that you want to go to that would be the biggest risk in other admissions plans. If that is Emory, you should probably switch them again.
@WFLMSer , you should ask Rochester people about your chances for getting into Rochester. If you think your chance of getting into Rochester is better than your chance at Emory, and you would be happy to go to Rochester, then it makes sense to apply to Rochester for ED1.
I disagree with that unless their chances at Rochester dramatically decrease in other plans. Emory takes a significant % more of ED1 applicants I think.
