I recently submitted an application to Seattle University and I am anxiously waiting. I am a senior in high school, but I am enrolled in a running start program at a two year tech school. My first two years in high school were a struggle, but I decided to transfer out into a running start program in my junior year. My GPA in my first two years of high school was 2.7. I have made great improvements though, and I explained all of that in my college essays. This June (when I graduate) I will have 55 transferable credits. As of last week, I have a 3.2 cumulative GPA. I completed the ACT with a score of 24. What are my chances of getting into Seattle University.
P.S: I have applied to four other schools as well.
Where else did you apply?
Can you afford Seattle Univ? It’s expensive and doesn’t give great aid. What are your parents saying about paying for this or any school?
You probably would get accepted so if your family will pay, you can go.
-Saint Martins University
-Gonzaga University
-Eastern Washington University
-Seattle Pacific University
I have a couple of scholarships that will cover the FULL costs of tuition and books. All of these schools are in Washington.
Do I have a good chance of getting in? In regards to my academic records.

Wow…where did you get those from? Are they good for private school tuition??
How will you cover room and board, etc?
I think you’ll get into at least 2 of those schools, if not all.
Yes mam they will cover private schools. As for room and board, I am applying for other scholarships as well. As to my academic record; will it be enough to secure a seat at Seattle University?
75% of freshman at Seattle.U have ACT scores higher than yours. So, yes, you can get in but you definitely need to have other options. Actually it is a somewhat easier to get into SU than Gonzaga. And lucky thing too, because Gonzaga has been having some financial difficulties in recent years. If you get into both, and both are equally affordable, I recommend SU.
On the other hand, I prefer the location of Seattle Pacific University and also like its campus better, compared to SU. Even if you are Catholic, SPU might be a good choice.
Personally, I would also apply to Western Washington and Evergreen State. Unless you just prefer the Spokane area. You also should be able to get into Washington State in Pullman.
Thank you for your response. So Based on my academic record that I provided, do I have a good chance at getting in?
Yes, I would say that you have a “good” chance, but not guaranteed. One thing to remember is that some colleges can occasionally have sudden changes in the number of people who apply. This change can go up or down. If a lot more students all of a sudden discover SU, and they apply, then it becomes harder to get in. Since you would be in the bottom 25%, such a change would make things much harder for you.
By the way, the reason that I recommend WSU, is because you would be an above average student there. Almost guaranteed that you would get in. Of course, it is a much larger school than any of the others.
what about the other schools? Saint Martins University, Eastern Washington?
You should easily get into both Saint Martins and Eastern Washington.
Alright thank you so much.
